This artisan line of pear-based gourmet condiments had established a dedicated and enthusiastic audience for its culinary delights, but needed an identity that reflected the premium nature of its offering. For the brand mark, McLean Design took inspiration from the product itself and the naturally branching lines of the pear tree to create the elegantly casual calligraphy, paired with an understated botanical illustration.

Our strategy for redesigning the packaging for these gourmet condiments was to align the label’s message with the culinary values of the California Central Valley — artisan quality, and exquisitely hand crafted. The overall effect perfectly encapsulates a country casual sensibility and strikes a simple balance between premium wine and delicate preserves, in a highly calculated but unpretentious manner.
  3. A natural expression of quality living is to grace one’s table with perfection, for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Extending A Perfect Pear into jams and jellies, dressings and sauces, makes that notion a tantalizing possibility. Choosing premium deckle-edge paper — trimmed from the rough edge of handmade sheets — for our printed labels reinforces the notion of artisan quality, premium gourmet indulgences.
